About Reservations

Reservations are always appreciated. To avoid having to wait to be seated, we strongly suggest you make reservation for weekends, holidays, special events, popular dining times (6-7PM), larger parties (4+), or to accommodate particular seating preference (patio, booth, window).

All bar seating is walk-in only, and no reservations are accepted for the bar seats.

We will hold your table for you for 15 minutes, then it will be offered to walk-in guests. Send us text reply to your reservation confirmation, or call us at (530) 596-1800, and we will do our best to reschedule your reservation.

Well-behaved children are always welcome. We do offer special kids menu, as well as non-alcoholic "mocktails" list; and high chairs and booster seats are available. Please make sure to include children in the reservation total to ensure the table we prepare for you can accommodate your party size.

Sorry, due to Health Code we cannot accommodate pets at all. We like pets, just not at our restaurant.

While most of our guest choose to wear Resort Casual, there is no enforced dress code, and we encourage you to wear whatever you feel comfortable in. As long as you don't come in straight from the lake in your swimsuit, and wear at least some shirt and shoes; you will fit right in.

About Restaurant

We are open year-round with the same hours: Wednesday through Sunday, we unlock our doors at 5PM, and last seating for the dining room (and the latest time you can make a reservation for) is at 8PM. Bar will stay open after 8:30PM if there are enough guests who want to stay. And we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

There are some holidays we are always closed - like July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There are holidays we are always open - like Valentines Day, Mothers Day and New Years Eve. Keep in mind - for these holidays we are typically serving special menu only created for that holiday! Basically, if you can make a online reservation for that date, then yes, we are open. If you are not sure, call us!

Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Discover are accepted (physical cards only, no Apple Pay / Google Wallet), and there is no weird surcharge for using your card. Cash is always good too! No checks, sorry! Red Onion Grill issued gift cards are of course accepted, but no 3rd party gift certificates or vouchers are. We will be happy to split your check or apply multiple payments, as long as you don't go too crazy with it.

Totally! We will be happy to sell you gift card loaded to any value you choose. Just come in when we are open - hostess or bartender can help you with this. Gift Cards can be used multiple times just like regular debit card, there is no transaction fee, and they never expire.

We do have good size parking lot for our guests in front, and additional parking is available behind the restaurant as well as on the street shoulder in front of the restaurant. Try not to bring your boats/snowmobiles/campers and such with you -  we don't have THAT much space.

We love to support local non-profits, sport teams and charitable causes that align with our values. Please plan ahead, best is to submit written request describing your cause and WHAT and WHY you are asking for.

About Our Menu

So here's the thing. Our menu changes. A lot. All the time. Based on what is fresh, new, exciting, in season, and on what we feel like making. You may not get the same thing you enjoyed your last visit, but you can be sure of one thing: every single item on today's menu is fresh. Nothing is ever frozen - all our seafood, beef, pork and lamb arrives fresh. All our steaks are aged, trimmed and cut in our kitchen. So in a way, everything is a special, and our menu items keep changing and evolving.

Please inform your server of any dietary restriction or allergies when ordering, and we will do our best to make necessary changes or substitutions - but please understand that may not always be possible. Our kitchen uses many potential allergens during its normal operation, and while we can deal with many sensitivities, we cannot guarantee any item to be completely free of allergen.

Short answer: Most of the time, yes. Long answer: So if you come in and would like to eat your steak on the bar so you can watch you team win (or loose) - yes, of course, we would love to do that! But if you bring in your extended family on summer weekend with no reservation, and don't fell like waiting for a table to free up - now that's a little different. We still may be able to serve you dinner in the bar, but we also may ask you to wait a little, or only order from the limited bar menu - depending on how busy the kitchen is at the time.

Of course, most of the time we are happy to prepare any menu item for you to go - feel free to call in, or stop by. But there may be times when we quote you a significant wait time, or tell you we cannot accept a to go order at this time - please understand we will give priority to already seated or reserved guests. Also, we are unable to accept to go orders on holidays when a special holiday menu is in place (Valentine's, New Years, etc.)

Of course! Bring that special bottle in! Our corkage fee is $25 per standard 750ml bottle. Remember, 1 corkage fee is waived with a 1 bottle purchase from our wine list, and there is no corkage fee on Sundays.

Yes, we would be happy to serve your dessert for you for your special occasion. Please hand us your cake when you are checking in for your reservation, we will keep it safe and cold, and your server will get it ready for you. No ice cream cakes, though, please!

About Large Groups

Reservations for groups up to 12 can still be made online - please plan ahead as there is only limited amount of larger tables available. For groups of 13+, please contact us in advance by phone at (530) 596-1800, or by email at info@redoniongrill.com . All large group reservations require credit card guarantee, and will be charged applicable cancellation fee in case of no-show, untimely cancellation, or significant decline in number of guests.

We can accommodate parties of up to 26 on the front patio, and up to 40 in the dining room for semi-private seating. For parties of 40+ or when fully private seating is required, restaurant buy-out is an option.

We are happy to serve parties up to 20 from regular menu. For parties of 20+ we require a pre-selected menu with no more than 3 choices. You can discuss the menu options with the Chef when making the reservation, as the pre-selected menu choices do not have to be from the current menu. Deposit will be required for all pre-selected menu reservations.

Unfortunately, we are not able offer any discounts, regardless of how large of a party you are bringing in.

Yes, of course, we would love to help you plan your special event! Please reach out well  in advance by phone at (530) 596-1800, or by email at info@redoniongrill.com . Between the dining room and the bar, we can accommodate parties of up to 80 year-round, and up to 120 during summer months. We do not charge any facility fees, but minimum consumption amounts of $3,500 (November-April) or $6,500 (May-October) will apply.

Sorry, we are unable to offer catering services outside of our restaurant at this time.
